Celery, raw
Ogden Nash
Develops the jaw,
But celery, stewed,
Is more quietly chewed.
There is silence, broken only by the sound of a strong man eating
P.G. Wodehouse

The Gaur (Bos gaurus) didn’t look at me as I fiddled with my camera. Should I correct for the fact that the light was not perfect? Which do you prefer, the photo out of the box, or the one which is corrected?
Actually, uncorrected – more atmospheric. But I think I would have been a very wary photographer, though this gaur look peaceable enough.

Gaurs are peaceful, unless you come between a mother and child. Their horns and size are protection against tigers, and it works often enough.

I agree, the incorrectly one seems more natural

Hm… how would I know which is the corrected one? 🙂 I prefer the one on the left, no doubt. The one on the right is yellow. I’m glad he kept eating undisturbed.

Thanks. The one on the right gives the colour which you would have seen in full sunlight. That’s the corrected one.

I’m out of step with the others as I prefer the corrected version! I like the slight glow and the fact I can see the gaur more distinctly 🙂

Yes, the photo at dusk is more atmospheric, but it doesn’t show the gaur well. That muscular creature needs full daylight.

The one on the right seems to be better.

I don’t care about the light. I love the cow. Wow.

Not exactly a cow, but close. Yes, quite a creature
