The Delhi Metro makes me feel peckish. What quick snack could I get? Outside the metro station was a very crowded paratha place. It smelt good, but a paratha is not a small snack. Around the corner I found matkas full of lassi, cooling in cold cabinets bearing logos of giants of retail who are locked in a perpetual battle like the Arisians and Eddorians or the Kree and the Skrull. I don’t mind the pop culture of The Empire, but I would rather have a lassi than sugared water for a snack. One matka was enough for two of us.
The lassi cooler

I’ve got a thing for mango lassi, or indeed just about anything that’s got mango in it. I got addicted to mango when I was in Karachi back in the 80’s. My colleagues and I would do the rounds of all the big name hotels to hang out drink coffee and watch the world go by and there always seemed to be a mango promotion going on somewhere. I think that might well have been the first time I tried mango lassi. Like you say, much better than sugared water!

Mango is another wonderful matter altogether. It touches on lassi of course, through mango lassi, but they are otherwise worlds of their own.
