Seville seems to be full of high and narrow places according to my old photos. An old friend plans to drive across Spain and Portugal, and asked me what I would recommend. The question stirred memories. A heat wave drove us indoors during our short visit to this wonderful town. There is an alternation of dark and light in my photos– so much like the deep chiaroscuro that we saw in the Prado.

Seville has so many stories to tell, of the rise and fall of cultures and civilizations, of lives and memories which disappear under the turns of history. You see a slice of this as you pass through: the casual warmth of places where people gather to eat and drink. And then you walk away to see the awe-inspiring structures that history has left. The open welcomes remain only in memories; the photos tell a different story.
“Don’t miss Seville”, I messaged my friend.
Nice photos

Oh yes, Seville is lovely! I was there in October and it was still hot 😀.

Indeed, Seville should not be missed. It is a beautiful city to wander around!

Quite likely. Unfortunately we were there in a heat wave much worse than any I’ve seen in India

Oy, I remember the summer of 2022 in Seville and it was awful. It really does get hot. 🙂 Though, summers in Andrah Pradesh were certainly hot as well. (haha)

My favourite city and only about an hour away but perhaps not great to visit in summer where Indian heat can prevail! 40 degrees or mor now.

It was hotter than India when I visited

Two years ago we were in that same area. Granada and its amazing Alhambra and, if your friend is there mid-May, Cordoba and its patio gardens are wonderful too.

It has very beautiful buildings but above all it has warm kind-hearted people and so much singing everywhere!

I heard a bit of the singing. But all told a beautiful place

Of course, and Cordoba and Granada too. So many lovely cities, and don’t even get me started on Portugal!
